     On 05/02/13, at approximately 2:00pm, Crawford County Deputies were dispatched to an area on Indian Springs Road, west of Steelville Mo. for a reported attempted abduction.

     The reporting party stated that she was walking her dog along Indian Springs Road when a male subject driving a teal green/bluish car approached her, stopped and asked her if she wanted a ride. When she declined the ride she stated the male subject grabbed her by the arm and wouldn’t let go.

     The reporting party stated that her dog jumped up and bit the man. She stated that she then punched the man in the face causing him to let go of her arm. The reporting party stated the man drove off at a high rate of speed heading towards Highway 8.

     Crawford County Deputies along with members of the Highway Patrol arrived on scene and began searching the area for the vehicle. A description of the vehicle and man were dispatched to all surrounding police agencies to try and locate the vehicle and suspect.

     Detectives with The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and started looking at the local registered sex offenders list. Information came in to the department listing the names of possible suspects. Detectives located and interviewed those persons of interest.

     During the investigation a possible suspect along with a vehicle matching the reporting party’s description was identified and located in the Sullivan area. The man was interviewed but denied any involvement in the incident.

     A photo lineup of six men was prepared and shown to the victim. She identified the man from Sullivan as the man who assaulted and tried to abduct her. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail for booking.

     On 05/11/13, warrant # N2007607 was issued on Jeremy M. Williams, 33 years of age from Sullivan Mo. Williams was charged with 565.110 RSMO, Attempted Kidnapping sections 558.011 and 560.011 RSMO a class B felony.

     Williams is being held at the Crawford County Jail in lieu of a One Hundred and Fifteen Thousand Dollar cash only bond. All parties in this case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
